Every imaging appointment begins with a consultation to ensure we’re using the most appropriate approach for your pet. We’ll explain the procedure, answer your questions, and make sure you know exactly what to expect before your pet’s scan.

Before Your Appointment

We’ll review your pet’s history, discuss the reason for imaging and recommend the most appropriate approach. If fasting, sedation or anaesthesia is required, we’ll explain how to prepare your pet and answer any questions before the day of their appointment.

During Your Visit

Your pet’s scan will be performed by our experienced team, with every image interpreted by a veterinary radiology specialist working closely with clinicians across the hospital. By combining imaging findings with your pet’s full clinical picture, we can provide accurate diagnoses and help guide the most appropriate treatment plan.

After the Scan

Once your pet’s imaging is complete, we’ll explain the findings, discuss the next steps and answer any questions you may have. A detailed report will also be shared with your referring veterinarian, ensuring everyone involved in your pet’s care is fully informed.

In most cases yes. The majority of animal imaging procedures at ACES require sedation or general anaesthesia to ensure your pet stays still enough for accurate results and remains comfortable and stress free throughout. All sedation and anaesthesia for imaging is managed by our dedicated specialist anaesthesia team, so your pet is in safe, experienced hands from the moment they arrive. Your pet will also need to fast from midnight the night before their imaging appointment.
