How ACES Was Born

Every great idea starts with a conversation. Ours started with four people who had spent many years working together, sharing not only countless cases and challenges, but also the same vision for what veterinary referral medicine could be.

The four founders of Animal Centre for Emergency & Specialties (ACES) have a long history of working side by side. Over the years, we built trust in one another, developed a shared philosophy of patient care, and discovered that we all valued the same things—clinical excellence, collaboration, compassion, integrity, and a genuine love for our profession.

From those shared values, ACES was born.

The idea was built on two simple but powerful principles.

The first was to create a truly comprehensive, gold-standard referral hospital where patients could access the specialist and emergency care they need under one roof. We wanted to provide a seamless experience for referring veterinarians, clients, and patients, with specialists working collaboratively across disciplines so families wouldn’t need to travel between different hospitals to receive the highest standard of care.

The second was equally important. We wanted to create a workplace with a culture we could be proud of—a place where people genuinely enjoy coming to work, where teamwork, respect, curiosity, and kindness are part of everyday life. We all love veterinary medicine, but we also wanted to love where we do it and who we do it with. We believe that when our people feel supported and inspired, they are able to provide the very best care for every patient and family who walks through our doors.

Those two principles became the foundation of ACES and continue to guide every decision we make.

Our name represents more than Animal Centre for Emergency & Specialties

It represents what we strive to be every day. At ACES, we exist to practise veterinary medicine with excellence, compassion, and purpose. We believe exceptional care comes from people who are fully invested in their work—people who see every animal as an individual, every client as a partner, and veterinary medicine as a craft worth doing well.

Our purpose is simple: to provide exceptional, collaborative, evidence-based specialist and emergency care, delivered with compassion and integrity. It’s why ACES was created, and it’s the standard we hold ourselves to every single day.
