Not always. Our 24-hour emergency service does not require a referral. For specialist appointments, many pets are referred by their family veterinarian, but self-referrals are also welcome for a number of our services. If you’re unsure, please contact our team and we’ll help guide you to the most appropriate care.

Yes. We work closely with your regular veterinarian throughout your pet’s treatment. After your consultation or hospital stay, we’ll provide them with a detailed summary and recommendations so they can continue to play an important role in your pet’s ongoing care.

Your specialist will review your pet’s history, perform an examination if needed, discuss the findings, and explain the recommended treatment options. We’ll answer your questions and make sure you understand the plan before any decisions are made.

If possible, bring any previous medical records, imaging, laboratory results and a list of your pet’s current medications. If your pet has been referred by your veterinarian, we’ll usually receive this information before your appointment.

Yes. If your pet requires ongoing monitoring or treatment, they may be admitted to hospital. Our hospital is staffed 24 hours a day by experienced veterinarians and nurses, allowing pets to receive continuous care whenever it is needed.

In many cases, yes. We understand how important it is to see your pet while they’re recovering. Visiting arrangements depend on your pet’s condition and what’s best for their care, and our team will discuss this with you during their stay.

You’ll receive clear discharge instructions, including any medications, home care advice and follow-up recommendations. If you have any questions after returning home, our team is only a phone call away.

If your pet is under the ongoing care of an ACES clinician, you can request repeat prescriptions through our website or by contacting our team. We’ll review your pet’s treatment before dispensing medication to ensure it’s still appropriate and safe.
